Nelson is the seafood capital of New Zealand with over 100 fishing boats and 20 
companies who in turn control more than half the total national catch of 
600,000 tonnes p.a. Nelson is renowned as the home of scallops
Apples dominate the horticultural scene contributing more 
than all the other horticulture and agriculture combined

Amenities: 45 churches, 2 local newspapers, 8 local radio stations, 1 local TV station 
and 4 shopping centres/malls
